Comprehensive Metabolic Panels

When she meets a new patient, Dr. Maryann Prewitt orders a Comprehensive Metabolic Panel to screen for a wide variety of conditions and assess the current state of your body’s biochemical health. She will analyze many of your parameters—most importantly, your thyroid and sex hormone levels—to get a snapshot of your overall physical health and build a customized treatment protocol from there.

What does a Comprehensive Metabolic Panel measure?

A comprehensive metabolic panel (CMP) is a group of tests that measures different chemicals in the blood. These tests are usually done on the fluid (plasma) part of blood. The tests provide information about your body’s chemical balance and metabolism. They can give doctors information about your muscles (including the heart), bones, and organs, such as the kidneys and liver.
