Votiva is a procedure for women’s sexual health and wellness. This safe, comfortable, and painless treatment rejuvenates both internal and external vaginal health issues without surgery. It uses radio frequency (RF) energy to tighten pelvic muscles and treat the effects of vaginal laxity such as urinary incontinence and loss of sensitivity. Dr. Maryann Prewitt performs Votiva right here in the HealthWellnessMD medical spa in Dallas, Texas.
If you suffer from low blood flow or sensitivity, pain with intercourse, or decreased libido, Votiva may be perfect for you. This therapeutic device treats a broad range of sexual dysfunction in women as it tightens the muscles of the pelvic floor. By remodeling the tissue, Votiva also addresses age-related loss of elasticity and wrinkled appearance of the labia and vulva. With Votiva, we treat you inside and out at the same time.
How does Votiva work?
Votiva works by employing two complementary technologies to address your sexual health and wellness concerns: gentle, volumetric heating and fractional treatment.
- What does heat do? We use the Votiva to gently and uniformly heat the treated tissue. This painless therapy helps by reducing pelvic pain as it tightens the muscles of the pelvic floor. It also addresses incontinence by strengthening the tissues that support healthy urinary function. In this manner, Votiva addresses internal vaginal health concerns.
- What does fractional therapy do? We also use the Votiva to address women’s external concerns about the appearance of the labia and vulva. Many women wish to rejuvenate the exterior of the vagina, as well. The fractional component promotes tissue remodeling as it treats the loss of elasticity and wrinkled appearance of the labia and vulva that often accompany the aging process.
What to expect during your treatment?
First, Dr. Prewitt will speak to you regarding your concerns and expectations and develop a treatment plan centered around your individual needs and wants. The Votiva treatment itself takes about half an hour. During that time, a small wand is applied to the problem area, delivering safe and effective heat.
How many sessions are required?
Once you’ve consulted with Dr. Prewitt, she will determine the best course of therapy for you. Most patients undergo 2-3 treatment sessions.
What is the downtime?
After Votiva, you may immediately resume your normal daily routine. Patients experience little to no discomfort and no downtime.
